The Model Arab-African Summit’s Opening Session took place today on Sunday November 4, 2018, on the sidelines of the second edition of the World Youth Forum, which is currently held in Sharm El-Sheikh from November 3 to 6, 2018.
The opening session of the summit started with the chairman announcing the start of the Arab-African Summit, pointing out that this summit is for the integrated course of Arab-African relations amidst the serious challenges facing both the Arab and African nations, which necessitate the joint Arab-African efforts to confront them.
The chairman began by giving the floor to the delegations’ representative, starting with the representative of His Majesty the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, and the chairman of the current session of the Council of the League of Arab States, and then to the representative of the Chairperson of the African Union Commission.
The Chairman of the session continued by giving the word to the representatives of the Kingdom of Bahrain, the Republic of Burundi, the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, the Republic of Kenya, the state of Libya, the Kingdom of Morocco, the State of Palestine and the United Arab Emirates. The state representatives addressed the most significant challenges facing the Arab and African regions and ways to promote Arab-African integration, to renew the strategic partnership between the Arab and African nations.
The Model Arab-African Summit was held following the recommendations of the Model of African Union held last May, within the framework of activating the recommendations of the World Youth Forum November 2017, which aims at enriching the dialog between Arab and African youth, and contributing to infusion of new blood to the Arab-African relations.
