H.E. Sameh Shoukry

Minister, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Egypt

H.E. Minister Sameh Shoukry, was sworn in as Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Arab Republic of Egypt on June 14th 2014 with a long diplomatic career since 1976. Minister Shoukry served as Ambassador of the Arab Republic of Egypt to the United States of America from 2008 to 2012 and Egypt’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations and other organizations in Geneva from 2005 to 2008. His Excellency served as Ambassador of Egypt to Austria and Permanent Representative to the International Organizations in Vienna, and Governor of Egypt on the Board of Governors of the IAEA from 1999 to 2003. Prior to his service in Vienna, Minister Shoukry was the Secretary of Information and follow up at the Presidency of Egypt from 1995 to 1999.

H.E. Hala Helmy El Said

Minister, Ministry of Planning, Monitoring & Administrative Reform Egypt

She currently leads the process of institutional and administrative reform along with the formulation of Egypt’s vision 2030. She was the first elected Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Political Science at Cairo University and subsequently the Deputy President for Scientific Research and Exterior Relations in 2013 at the same institution. Dr. El-Said also served as Executive Director of the Egyptian Banking Institute (EBI) and on the board of the Central Bank of Egypt.

An Emirati politician who currently serves as Minister of State for Youth Affairs in the United Arab Emirates. In February 2016she became the youngest government minister in the world. Al Mazrui has a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from New York University Abu Dhabi. She graduated with a Masters of Public Policy from the University of Oxford in 2015. She was the UAE's first Rhodes scholar. Al Mazrui worked in private equity in an Abu Dhabi sovereign wealth fund and as a public policy analyst at the UAE Mission to the United Nations. She also worked as an intern at the UAE Embassy in Washington D.C.

Gabr served as first secretary counselor at the Egyptian embassy in Paris from 1980-1984. She also served as counselor in the Egyptian mission at the United Nations in Geneve from 1988-1992. Gabr holds a masters degree in French Literature from the University of Brno in the Czeck Republic. She is a graduate of the Faculty of Economics and Political Science at Cairo University. Ambassador Gabr has been elected several times to be a member of CEDAW over the past 10 years, and has served as chairperson of the organization from 2009 till 2011. She was also elected to serve as vice chairman of the committee from 2015 till 2017.

Dr. Amani Abou-Zeid is the African Union Commissioner in charge of Infrastructure, Energy, ICT and Tourism. For more than 30 years, Dr Abou-Zeid has served in leadership positions in international organisations and has amassed a remarkable mix of experience from across continents and stakeholders. She has managed AfDB largest operational portfolio and implemented national and continental multi-sectoral development programmes, including implementing the world’s largest solar power plant . In 2018, she launched the Single African Air Transport Market, delivering on the first flagship project for African Integration under African Union Agenda 2063. This year , she launched Africa’s digital transformation strategy and many other continental initiatives and projects. An Egyptian national, Dr Abou-Zeid has a multi-disciplinary education: Electrical Engineering, Cairo University; MBA, Université Senghor; MPA, Harvard University; and Ph.D. Social and Economic Development, The University of Manchester. Dr. Abou-Zeid was selected twice, in 2012 and again in 2019, one of "The 50 Most Influential Women in Africa ; and wad decorated the Wissam Alaouite from Morocco; she was named “Personalité d'avenir" from France,"; and received the "Outstanding Alumni Award" from the University of Manchester, UK — some of numerous international awards and recognitions: Dr Abou-Zeid is member of the prestigious Global Leaders Broadband Commission for Sustainable Development, and the Global Commission for Urgent Action on Energy Efficiency as well as of the Stewardship Board for System Initiative on Shaping the Future of Energy. Dr. Abou-Zeid sets the example for women in STEM and in leadership and decision making positions and is long named and recognized as champion of gender equality.

Maria Camilleri, an educator and politician, was born in 1952. For decades Maria has been identified with the Maltese educational system as teacher and head of state and independent schools In addition to education, Maria was one of the most visible TV personalities of the 1970’s. Between the 1980’s and 1990’s, Maria was actively involved in politics. She was the first woman acting as Vice-President of a political party. Between 1996 and 1998 Maria Camilleri was a member of parliament and parliamentary member of the Council of Europe. She has also been appointed by the Prime Minister of Malta as a person of trust representing the Prime Minister in Arab countries as well as member on the Board of Governors for the National Development and Social Fund. Recently Maria Camilleri received the national Life Achievement Award for her outstanding lifelong career
